Counselling can help you understand that what you are experiencing is a normal reaction to an abnormal event. This does not anyway minimize the range & intensity & feelings experienced by you but reaffirms their normality in the context of what happened to you.
The Aim of counselling is not to help you forget your experience but rather to be able to live without the abuse taking over every aspect of your life. Some people find in the course of counselling that they begin to develop their strengths and resources sometimes being unaware that they existed.
Length of engagement in counseling is determined by ongoing assessment between client and counselor. Although our services are free, duration is determined by individual need.
